How can you say that - after saying this:

and lets face it polotics has a lot to answer for with whats going on just latley in our country..
?
If politics has a lot to answer for - how is turning a blind eye going to change anything? We are lucky in this country that we have a system that enables us to vote and say what we think. It isn't perfect - but it's better than a lot of countries have. We have recently seen elections in Iraq and Zimbabwe - places where people have to risk their lives to vote - or where elections are so rigged that there really is no point in bothering. Complaining about the government in some countries gets you into deep shit - yet people here sit around moaning that 'they always fuck it up'... I think yourself lucky you can freely voice that opinion and use your vote to make a difference. It is important!

to back that up a bit, if i was woman i would feel even more compelled to vote, due to the fact that women like emily pankhurst chained herself to railings went to prison, went on hunger strike, and some even died, so that women could have the right to vote !!!!!
that in itself would make me vote

i myself am voting by not voting --- i cannot bring myself to vote for a party whos policy's i do not belive in -- there is not in my eyes a party at the moment who are going to take the country forward -- so by abstaining from voting i am making that statement not that i dont care or cant be bothered but that there isnt a party that represents the working man or woman -- and i belive that the dwindiling numbers of people actually voting supports this -- if a party came out with policy's that were true and for the average person then all the non voters may vote which very soon will be the majority vote..
--anyhow i am not argueing oe getting into a debate about politics, football, religon or women
and if you can understand all the votes partys and policies ive said then you should be a phschologist

Just to clarify/qualify for all NON VOTERS......... abstaining is not a vote counted; if you see what i mean. This is just put down to the lazy gits who can't be arsed to vote! (not my opinion, but the one used to nominalise the political apathy)
HOWEVER, a spoilt ballot paper (swear on it, cross it all off, put in Mickey Mouse and check that box etc) IS counted! So if you do want your discontent to be a statement then spoilt papers are the only other counts made!
I would agree with the statement about women's votes, but i think that we have all been given a voice, albeit small but if we get together we can SHOUT!
Spoil those ballot papers to air your dissatisfaction with whats on offer!!!
.
here endeth the sermon.....sorry didn't mean to get bossy

I know Blair is a twat as a person and things are still shit, but they are improving slowly but surely. I dont agree with all these back door taxes that are brought in (mainly on driving related issues) but does no one remember the 80's??????
Negative equity, stupid interest rates, millions out of work, everything moving to the private sector to help the rich get richer. People are ripping into labour for the piss poor manufacturing in this country, but think back to where it all started!!!!! with the TORIES!!!!!!

Well said!
As for women feeling more compelled to vote because they had to fight for it - I think everyone should value their right to vote equally. People in this country take a lot of things for granted - especially their right to vote. You can be sure that if your right to vote was removed - you would then have something to complain about.
