I have..it was there when I bought it..its a standard 1600 silver one..Ive had the van a couple of months now and used only occasionaly...the guy I bought it off was using unleaded fuel but I suspect it should be leaded..can anyone confirm which I should be putting in??

i've got a gold volkspares in my beetle from 1999 (receipt cam with the car) I would be inclined to use unleaded (i do).

any twinport engine will run unleaded with no modifications
been using it in mine for over 10 years with no probs

How do I know if its twin port?

check the ends of the manifolds (the solid metal pipes that go from the carb to the cylinder heads on each side of the engine)

if they look like the top 2 pictures (part 25) it's twin, the bottom picture (21) it's single..

na - yours will be 99.9% a twinport. We run the wifes singleport on unleaded with no probs either

your engine is a twin port 100 %,unleaded should be no problem :)

dunno mate, I know a lot of folk have had trouble with them but I've had one of theirs in my bug now for 6 years with no probs. Maybe I've just been lucky though

The engines been in thier since 99 and no probs with previous owner (allegedly)
