hi, put in one of my old engines that hasn't been run for two years....it fired up first time (bit of smoke)... but the f**king thing won't idle at all...i've drove it down my street it accelerates in first fine but when i change to second there is no power at all, it's as if it's still in first. I've tried changing carbs,timing, looked at fuel but still no look. could there be something up with the gears? or is the engine past it. ... cheers

has the carb been standing with the engine ?????

yeah, but what's strange is i've swaped the carb over an it still happens...

clean the plugs then try it again.sounds like the problem i had with hippyvan.choke stayed closed and sooted the plugs up.if it does it after
cleaning the plugs,check them again to see if they are dirty
