Anyone know which plug you stick your timing gun on (looking at the engine) on..

A. Early bay
B. 1300 Beetle
C. 1200 Beetle

Used a colourtune and timing gun and van is running better!

Manual says to tune to dead on TDC but I know some peeps advance slighty which way is this and how much is advisable?

I have set the timing up according to the manual (timing mark level with split in casing) and it tics over great. Pulls away with enough poke too but I seem to have lost all my top end I can only seem to get to 40 in 3rd and 4th has no power at all. As I mentioned before is this where 'adavncing comes into play and by how much do I adjust?
