i've started puttin unleaded in the bug and i've read somewhere that the timing needs to be changed or somethin...
72/73 1300 engine..
Any figures for what it should be?? Lend me a timing strobe?? Help me out and sort it for me (buy ya a pint on sunday??)??
You dont have to alter the timing for unleaded so long as the
octane number meets or exceeds that needed for your engine.
It will tell you the requirements in your haynes book, I think there are differences over the years.

will have a look.. on the inside of the fuel flap it's got min 91 RON.
it's stupid... I've got a 1300 bug but a 1200 Haynes manual.... Go figure!!

If you can borrow a timing light, just set the timing to 32 degrees max advance at 3000rpm and forget about it!

I put some tablet things (I think called broquet or something like that) in my fuel tank last year before switching to unleaded and have just serviced the car same as since and I haven't even set the timing with a gun or anything....
Runs sweet as....
oh yeah, It's a 1300sp
