Quite suprised by some of the comments on there - what's with all the people quoting the dictionary? Yeah, cos meanings of words don't change at all, do they?

What's your view anyway?

Mine is, like most other things, if it doesn't affect me and it doesn't affect people who don't want to be then I have no problem with it. Can't see all the agro personally and I do think they should have the legal rights at hospitals and all that sort of stuff.

people often talk about the common law thingy, but i am pretty sure that it does not actually exist - pretty sure, not certain.

I didn't think so - either group can cohabit without being 'married' and both groups need to 'marry' to recieve the rights. Apart from the commonlaw thing I guess.

The only problem I can see is that a couple has to get married, wheras homosexuals get a 'civil union' but I think that's just semantics. They're both the same in practice, I think.

Common Law does exist - whether it exists in this case, I dunno.
