J reg, Mk2 Golf Driver 1595cc

Yeah, yeah I know it's not a GTI.

After passing my driving test at the age of 21 I purchased my first car, a 1991 MK2 Golf Driver. I still drives it as my first and only car today. It's now covered 141,000 miles. I bought it from my brother for £950,00 in 2000. Since having it I've fitted various accessories, mostly being for a visual upgrade. It now has GTI side door mouldings, 4 light de-badged grill with crystal clear headlights, de-badged rear valance, crystal clear smoked rear lights, bee-sting aerial, smoked side repeaters, re-furbished 15" Sebring G60 alloys, front centre arm rest, G60 leather steering wheel, lowered 40mm with GTI gas shocks and G60 top mounts, GTI lower front spoiler, interior door cards/roof/rear quarters all sprayed black, black gti sun visor/clips/roof handles, leather look seat covers, JVC face off CD player, Sony front door speakers and JBL rear speakers. There's not much else I wants to do to it now. I'm looking at saving up to buy a good condition, low mileage, 1991 GTI MK2 and any type of old style Beetle as a weekend driver.

A couple more of my Driver:

Heres some more of my Driver (click photos for bigger image).

Before/During:

Some horrible photos there. I have nothing to say in my defence. Shocking colour coded interior, Grill spoiler and just look at those sparco harness pads. Yuk.

After/So far:

That's better. Got rid of the badges, grill spoiler and those harness pads.

My plans are to sort those arches out. ie make tham match the side strips. The thing is can you get the arches to match both the side strips and small bumpers when I have no big-bumpers or side skirts? Does that make sense?

Also plan to fit a green cone filter, removing the original panel filter in the airbox near the carb.

I want to have a chrome look like the Golf Edition Blue on the front of this months Golf+ mag. That's the best looking Golf I've ever seen :o.

Ideally needs a re-spray to get rid of the rust, scratches and faded parts

Debating a new grill (again, would be my fourth!). Seen one I like on SWG Motorsport witht the smaller inner spot lights.
