From Fool to Cool - An Ongoing Bus Story.
Why do a resto thread? I asked myself. Well, for me, I'm hoping this will be an inspiration to others new to the scene or even old hands who have lost the urge to get going with their project.
How did I get here? Well, I'll start at the beginning...
My name is David, I'm 33 years old. I'm married to Leanne and we have a little boy named Caleb. I'm a shift supervisor for an aerospace component manufacturer and I know absolutely nothing at all about cars.
ANY cars.
I've been lucky enough to always own new motors and filling the tank with petrol and checking the oil level is as 'mechanicy' as I get. Or I should now say got.
So why buy a VW Camper? I've always, always wanted to own a bay window camper. They just look so groovy! And after many, many years of camping in tents, when the little man was born, we needed something more solid for our hols. So the search began...
And here's what we came up with after lots and lots of viewings.
Looked at the engine. Ooooh, a Weber thingy.
Pulled on the wheel, checked for 'end float'. Solid, good. (I'd read that in a magazine ).
Checked under cab floor mats...hmmm, some crap fibreglass repairs but the missus likes the colour and the interior is smart so SOLD!
Well folks, that's the start of our bus story. Coming soon... engine out, rubber seals, welding work and adjustable beam.
Happy dubbing!
