THIS IS WORTH READING PLEASE PERCIVERE. Hi Guys, fell foul of the LAW today, just got out the top of our street and a bloody motorcycle cop pulled out across the road and fired his telescopic blue flashing light up 6ft,follow me was his words no explanation given,so i plodded of after him!
We turned in to a quiet car park on the university and then the penny dropped, loads of VOSA vans and bloody TOW trucks
Then my nice MG Maestro was brutalised they scratched paint off the top of the suspension turret top looking for the chassis no. which i told them was'nt there i knew that as i stripped and resprayed the engine bay,but carried on regardless!Next jacked up the back and pulled and pushed at the wheels checking bearings, shockers brake pipes the bloody lot,"nothing wrong there sir!" then he spots my nice new S/S back box,OH dear the vosa guy says thats not a standard fitment!the coppers ears twitched and he mulls over, saying that its an illeagal fitment, now as the law was changed on the 14th Feb he spurts, only exausts actually manufactured for a specific vehicle may be fitted to that said vehicle. The inspection continued jacking the front up and getting into the job, same again bearings, pipes, steering, balljoints the bloody lot!! it was pointed out a loose bolt on my shocker at the bottom bracket, the vosa guy said if i did'nt have the tools to correct this fault the vehicle would be inpounded i had no tools in my boot at all, then i spotted my x shaped wheel nut remover/spaner 4 ended, and i was bloody lucky it was the top bolt as i did manage to get in and tighten it.
Between Vosa+copper they fully MOT'd my bloody car, they checked the T16 engine no.which i had added to my log book and had this on me with all my documents, the other team did 2 vans+1 car in the time it took them to put mine under the microscope.
At the end of this he handed me a ticket to get the exaust changed and an under inflated tyre fixed and checked at a MOT station or face 2x £30 fines,i told him i got a slow puncture that i picked up on yesterday, saying if you had'nt have stopped me i was pulling in the garage to get some air in it as i was aware then onto a tyre centre to get the slow leak repaired .
It must have been pretty obvious i keep the car in 100% good condition as when he took my front wheel off everything was new, springs, shocks, discs and the caliper was nicely clean and painted red,it was as if they was targeting me to an over the top lets get this twats car towed off approach, well i got back in it and drove away,if i had'nt have had that spanner it would have cost me over £130 to get back, but now i need to find an old MG Maestro back box to pop on before the 14 days are up,and i aint got one, anyone got an old one spare,as long as it aint dropping to bits it would do?
I'm hopping bloody mad about this,i'm usually OK with the police and these such set-ups but this has certainly made me think twice!
Any one else had a bad time like this with these vose checks, this is my third now, once in the MG Metro twice in the MG Maestro, they are really targeting our older cars with ferocity.
PS,the lifted all carpets checking for rott too! unbelievable what they checked.
This cant be good.
