Qualifications:
BA Hons Music and Environmental Management (Keele University)
ABRSM Grade 7 Saxophone (currently working towards Grade 8 )
ABRSM Grade 5 Theory of Music
ABRSM Grade 4 Piano
ABRSM - The World's Leading Music Exam Board : ABRSM.org - Home
About Me:
I took up music at an early age and have enjoyed playing a wide range of instruments. I am most passionate about saxophone though
Previous membership to groups include:
Staffordshire Recorder and Renaissance Ensemble (Medieval Bagpipes and Contra Bass Recorder)
Staffordshire Youth Wind Orchestra (Baritone Saxophone)
Keele University Big Band (Alto Saxophone)
Saxophone Quartet K-Sax (Alto Saxophone I and II)
I studied Music at University and specialised in composition. Performance was a large part of my course during my final year - mainly as an accompaniest to other jazz players for their recitals.
I was fortunate enough to be taught by a top saxophonist from the Royal Northern College of Music during my time at Keele. She taught me a lot about breathing techniques, posture, tonality work and the essentials of playing in a small group.
Lesson Information:
Im looking forward to teaching Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Baritone saxophone but I specialise in Alto. I will also integrate music theory into lessons as and when necessary, whilst trying to keep it fun!
Your goals are entirely upto you...you can take lessons just for fun or to work towards ABRSM grades - a good mix of both is essential if you want to work towards exams
I have a range of backing CDs and duet music, which are excellent for variety in lessons!
I am willing to teach any age and from total beginner to intermediate players.
Im based on the outskirts of Stafford - please PM me for location. I would prefer to teach from my home as I have all of my equipment there to hand. If necessary though, I can travel to your home for an extra charge.
Its essential that as a pupil you like your teacher and enjoy the way youre being taught! So, if youre interested I will give a
one hour 'taster lesson' for only £10 to see how you get on! If the lessons are for children, parents are more than welcome to sit in and listen
Normal price £18 per hour (£10 for 30 minutes)
For younger children, I would recommend 30 minute lessons as 1 hour of playing/concentrating can be very tiring!
