For the record, Cosford
don't require me to have PLI for the Breakfast Club. They have their own insurance for events
The reason us as a club have taken out PLI is that it is required by law for any club holding a static event. A lot of people seem to bury their heads in the sand to this. We are guilty to it as we should have taken it out a few years ago now.
Even a club meet at a pub car park such as the Cuckoo Oak requires this, as do the croozes, as do weekend camping trips away, as do some of the larger shows as it reduces their PLI insurance (and blame) by requesting others to take out their own. I requested for the underwriters to add in the Breakfast Club meets into the policy for my piece of mind. It added an extra £22 on the policy. Worth it in my book especially as their events policy is only valid for static displays. If anyone got hurt whilst a vehicle was arriving or leaving, the book would get thrown at the organisers, which is basically me.
So, I have paid out £105 out of my own money for PLI, as well as just renew the website hosting and 2 domain names for another 12 months which has cost me another £78!
Club funds had £48 in so yup, I dug into my own pockets again!
Not to mention the £100 I put in of my own money to by the towers in the first place!
So, you lot can be safe in knowing that when you go camping together at Bug Jam, I've got your asses covered out of my own pocket!
