1971 V8 Powered VW Beetle
A 1971 1300 beetle with a slight engine enlargement now running a 3.5 litre V8 from an old Rover SD1, the engine is standard bar the filters and has about 150 bhp.
Gruff has been lowered one spline front and back but is deceptively low looking due to the windened wings and the added weight in the back end. The roof has been chopped off and replaced with a half body rollcage and a vinyl roof, interior wise prett ystandard cept the low Metro seats for comfort and optimum racing height
lol.
Ran the strip at BugJam 2004 best time it ran was 13.9 crossing the line at 96mph so works out to 0-60 in 5.5 seconds approx.
1967 Sand Rail Dune Buggy
Sir Walter RAIL-eigh is a homemade version of a sand rail, built by a chap called Adey in Nottingham. Sir Walter in a 1967 beetle chassis running a 1600 standard beetle engine, the steering is from a 1986-88 Vauxhall Astra but that is all that's from a non VW.
The framework panels and all were cut and welded by Adey and are all removable for easy maintenance, originally in a sand storm camouflage paintjob the last owner took it out in a hailstorm and as well as bruises the paintwork was fatally wounded. Sir Walter is now in fetching black all over and armed with duel cannons, a push button start and duel feed canister petrol tanks. Front tyres 165/80/15âs beastie 33/12.50/15âs.
