Check the connectors on the fire mate. If they're bayonet (spl?) fittings then you can do it yourself apparently.

the corgi guy has to do a saftey test on the whole system to check for leaks - before and after the fire swap - then he has to comission the fire (correct flame height etc) and check the flue is ok - its not just a case of unhooking one and hooking the other up

it is 'technicaly' legal to do it yourself, but if anything goes wrong, you have to 'prove' you are 'competant' in gas fire installation (or cookers or whatever you have done)

you 'have' to be corgi certified to do it as a trade

similar to the new electrics rule

If you can't fix it with a hammer, then it must be an electrical problem.

Didn't think it mattered if it was a certain type of connection coz the gas cuts off when you unhook it.

Ah well

Nah tricky is right, you really need a corgi dude to come and commision it. I can try and get a number from work of an engineer in your area but I can't gaurantee it will be cheap.

nah - it goes into safety issues such as flame out for different gas pressures !

the factory set and average setting (like a carb) and the installer can adjust to suit the gas supply in the house it's installed in. 9 out of 10 its ok, but you dont want the flame dieing and the gas not cutting out etc etc

the flue might be blocked - maybe you didnt realise, but when you get a new fire - it's checked ... CO kills !

You can't have a bayonet connection on a fire!. Got to be hard piped in with isolation tap & no flexy pipe. Some fires you can check the burner pressure but there is no adjustment. You also have to inspect the flue do a flue flow test, spillage test, test the pipework for gas tightness & check the pressure drop across the pipework bla bla bla. Can't you tell i'm trainin for my corgi gas
