Now that I'm more awake, here's a bit more info.
The mileage is 187,00, and as far as I know it's the original engine. The cam has been done since I've owned the vehicle (as has the cylinder head) and the engine is really nice. There's loads of service history, and a significant amount of it is main dealer. I'm not aware of any bodywork repairs that have been, or need to be done. The interior is in reasonable condition, with only the typical wear on the squab on the drivers seat, and a repair that has been done there in the past as can be seen in one of the photo's on photobucket. The hood is watertight and from the looks of it it's robably the original. It shows a few signs of wear and has one or 2 tiny marks. If I was keeping it I'd probably replace the hood within the next 5 years, but that would mainly be to get it looking absolutely perfect. Don't get me wrong, the hood is in very good condition, just not '100% perfect'.
Overall, that's probably a pretty good general assesment of the car - it's very good all over, and could quite hapily be taken to a good show standard if that was what you wanted, but I was looking for a car I could use on a daily basis.
The last mot bought up a few front end bits that were worn, which I did myself (shocks, bearings disks, that sort of thing). If you want ot have a chat about anything, feel free to call me on 07876 393 012 - I'll be brutally honest about it,as I don't want the purchaser to be happy with it. If you're looking for a Mk1/2, then the Rivage is definitley the most practical and useable option.
I bought it unseen from ebay and I've been really happy with it. I'll be really sad to see it go, as Ive tried and tried to persuade the mrs that we should keep it, but I suppose 4 aircooled vw's and 2 watercooled daily drivers is more than enough.
