As many of you will know, The Series 1, MK1 Golf GTI is a very rare car. This is a 79' 4 speed that was registered in August of that year, therfore, making it one of the very first of the uk cars.
Mine is in Excellent condition as you can see from the pictures I've attached below. I've had it just over a year and really don't want to sell it, but the purchase of a new house forces my hand. It's had no expense spared since I've owned her (If you want a list of whats been done, email me) it has had 2 services last year and a Cambelt change. It passed it's MOT 1st time at the back end of September. a good share of money has been spent of getting the interior sorted, It's had new Carpets & Soundproofing fitted by Newton Commercial, the original Tartan Seats have been refurbished and it's had a new Headlining fitted along with a mint parcel shelf.
It's all original apart from the rare early black steel bumpers, the lowering springs (Fitted by previous owner) and a CD headunit and speakers (Speakers are in the correct place.....no holes cut and I would supply the original Radio and speakers anyway). The car would also come with it's original Steel wheels which need a light refurb.
The car had a full bare metal rebuild that commenced in 1995 and I have full receipts coming upto around 6k+, there are also a few photographs too.
The mileage would have to be a guess I'm afraid, as I know the car has had a couple of speedometer changes over the years (Common fault). Up until 1995, before the rebuild it had done 87K. It was off the road for a few years during the build, up until 1999' when it had a new speedo. For some reason it then wasn't driven until 2004 when Trimsport owned the car (vw accessory company). He then passed it on to Paul @ Future Classics in Bristol in 2005, who used it as a show car for his business for a year and said he only did about 2k in it. Then I've owned it this last year and it's been my daily....I've probably done around 10k in it. So I think it would be a good bet to say it's done around 100k.
I have a big folder full of history on the car including the original document wallet and the 1979 Golf sales brouchure. There isn't any history until 1987 (Mileage only 22k at this point), but plenty after it and I have kept every receipt since I've owned it.
I'm located in Telford, Shropshire (About 30 minutes from Birmingham) and I'd be really easy to find and close to motorway links.
