Any decent detailed 1303 resto pics on the web?

I'll upload my resto pics later, possibly pre beam conversion.

Right, now, sit down Children and I'll tell you.....

A Standard beam on a 1303?

a 1303 with IRS?

That would be the best combo a beetle could have then.

The greatest setup a beetle has seen is on the semi-automatics with Axle Beam and IRS.

Apart from the fat chick shell which could be changed anyway, you'd have the best handling beetle you could get.

I'd say the macphearson struts are better than a standard beetle front beam.... or i am confused over all this know?

Depends who you speak to I suppose.

I always thought the struts would be better, the axle beam is far more rigid.

My mate has owned standard beetles and modded beetles with them both and he swears the axle beams handle far better.

I would have said a strut front would have been better, change all the bushes for euothane or new stock ruber ones, decent set of progessive coilover slimline struts, and a bar thingy that foes from the top of the strut to the top of the strut.
If strut fronts are no good for handling then why are most the serious germanlookers 1303s and 1302s?

a 1303 set up properly will always be a better ride round corners than a beam.

the only reason for retro fitting a beam onto a 03 chassis i could think of is to get a irs rear end for a buggy.

replacing a frame head for a beam one is a massive job thats too easy to get wrong and simply not worth it imho.

still its your bug go for it if ya want to it'd be intersting to see the results but i'd still stand by the fact that of all the bugs i've owned the stock 03's drove far better than the modified beam bugs and the modified 03 was the nuts.
