When does a car become a classic?

Also thought it would be something 30 or 40 years old, but got confused when me 24 year old T25 got classic insurance. To be honest, the shape of the T25 does grow on ya after seeing it on the drive everyday. it was always a compromise but it does grow.

I had me mexi bug which looked like the classic bug in all but number plate. That felt like a classic but wasnt.

Now got the newbie and that feels like it will be classic but not just yet. Ah well supposed beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Some insurance companies class certain modern day cars as classics if they are limited production models.
Alex's RS2 is on a Classic car insurance policy and it is a '95 model, but they deem it as a modern day classic.
Hence why a 25 year old can get insured on a car that does 180mph for less than £200 a year!!
We had a look at some companies like Elephant just to see how much they'd quote and they came back with figures between 10 and 20 times that amount!!!

Insurance is interesting! I tried direct line for the T25 as a second car. They needed to know exact model, when conversion was carried out, who by, etc none of which I know. HIC just wanted to know T25 and camper conversion,

Tried quote me happy peeps on the newbie - there quote was exactly double the direct line quote. Which I told them, and was suprised to be asked if I still wished to go ahead with the policy. err no! So they reduced cost by £100 which was still much more than the other quote. And they were still supprised by me not wishing to go ahead!

A modern car becomes a classic when people no longer call you a c**t for buying one!
