Seeing as my gti is almost on 200,000 miles, does about 20mpg, burns more oil than the Republican Guard and only kicks out about 90bhp nowadays, I was going to strip the engine down and get the head/block reconditioned locally.
Then Mr Big told me that VW Heritage were getting rid of their old stock of 8v gti engines cheap. How cheap? Zero mile complete engines for £400! I thought fuck it, its not worth getting oily at that price so i bought one.
If you need an EV code engine out of an early mk2 then get on the phone quick - they only have one left!
p.s. They're perfect for T3 diesel engine upgrades.
