Lower door skin repairs any good?

I might repair the beetle doors I have by replacing the inner and outer lower skins, a friend said that the join always rusts very quickly, has anyone done this repair and had good long lasting results?

lower outer skin is a waste of time tbh. It's actually just as quick and a lot less filling etc to do a complete door skin.
