Got up at 5:30 this morning, took one look outside and thought "Ye gods! 2 and a bit inches of snow in 4 hours and still coming down. Going out to drive to a show in that would be suicidal. Only a fool would attempt such a task..."
An hour later, I'm climbing into my Polo and cautiously setting off, second gear and clutch control all the way.
The car behaved impeccably, I'm very impressed with it. The snow stopped falling, the light grew better, and I eventually made it to the service station to meet up with the rest of the cruise. What is usually a 30-car cruise was reduced to 6 by the snow!
Nevertheless, we set off, and found the M6 to be pretty clear going. Got there safely, and the sun came out. The numbers were low at first, but steadily increased as the weaher improved, and soon the place was heaving. Caught up with friends, bought parts, took pics. All in all, a good day even if the entry fee was on the high side. So without further delay, the snaps from DubFreeze 2010:
It really WAS a Dub Freeze in the most literal sense...
Although some interesting non-VWs were freezing too...
Type 3s...
Don't fancy cleaning the slush out of THOSE rims...
Looked right at home in the snow...
