Started stripping the engine down (thanks keith for the engine stand adaptor) and it ain't looking too bad at all. Fetching a spare engine saturday so should be able to knock together one good one!
Fuel tank is out and is in good shape. Will clean it thoroughly, rustproof the outer and paint it for reassembly. Going to cut a hatch in the cab floor so i can access the sender unit without taking the bleedin engine out. While we're talking fuel, i removed the filler rubber top, tube and rubber link. Worthy of note (my van is a 79) the top rubber was split and the bottom one was completely perished allowing petrol to escape! I will replace both but maybe worthy of a check you van owners? The link section is special nitrile lined fuel/oil grade hose and is HUGELY expensive stuff but i have managed to get a metre of it so you know where to come if you need a bit!
Wheels and front bumper are back from powdercoat...lookin ace. Rear bumper, spare wheels n other bits next.
Tomorrows job is dead boring...paint stripping the entire vehicle exterior.
Look out for the next exciting installment........ Wobbly
