My old fasty engine is for sale, it's a turnkey Type 3 pancake engine so doesn't look quite like a bug engine but could be converted to upright cooling to run in a bug if required...
I don't want to sell this motor but in order to finish other projects it's gotta go
Built by myself in August 2004, used for about 100 miles, changed the oil, used about another 20 miles then parked it outside my house and just started every now and again, this engine is as good as the day I built it, it ran and felt really strong, never had any problems with it at all.
If you've got a Type 3 and want a bit more poke this is just up your street, just bolt it in and away you go.
Spec as per when it was built (Aug '04), stuff isn't new any more, has 120miles on it:
Type 3 case
Balanced crank and bottom end
Lightened flywheel
90.5mm B&P
Teflon Buttons instead of wrist pin circlips
Engle 110 cam
Ratio rockers (I think)
Bolt up rocker shafts
One brand new head, other one reconditioned at Kingfishers in July 2004
Little bit of match porting
Sorted valves all round (can't remember if they were new or recon, new I think)
New HD Valve Springs
New Retainers
New Rocker Covers and Gaskets
New Pushrod Tubes and Seals
(this engine never leaked a drop of oil)
New Oil Pump
Deep Sump
Weber 36 IDF's rebuilt with new gaskets and sorted out etc in 2004
Special Type 3 Manifolds to get the carbs under the engine lid
K&N Air Filters
Braided fuel hoses
Top quality hex bar linkage
Big External oil cooler with switchable electric fan
External oil filter takes Golf GTi filters
Turbo Thomas Type 3 Stainless Steel Header
Mazda RX7 Alternator conversion
Looking for £2800 as it's sooo worth it but if it's sensible make me an offer, but please bear in mind this is a top motor...
Currently in a car for sale here https://volkstorque.co.uk/forum/s...942#post175942 but buy the engine and get the black car for £200...
