1964 Split Screen VW Camper, LHD, MOT, Tax Exempt etc.
Originally Californian EZ camper - but converted interior - VERY rare windows, shine up beautifully if that's the look you are after.
1600cc engine - brand new last year with 1yr Remtec warranty still remaining - petrol, obviously.
2yr old paintwork, almost immaculate.
Chassis/underbody/structure totally rust-free and very straight.
5 months of MOT remaining - passed with no problems in the 2 years since refurb.
Stainless Steel 5-bow roof rack (yes, the very very expensive one).
Aluminium side step.
Flat 4 BRM(?), 5 Spoke alloy wheels and fairly new tyres.
Original Blaupunkt FM radio (original to the time - not van... sourced elsewhere) - one of the first car radios to have FM frequency. Works fabulously - have it hooked up to one alpine speaker in the dash, as it would have been.
Dual-mount aerial - looks amazing, v few vans have this as it's a complete pain to fit.
All paperwork/receipts since import in 2007: I am the only owner since UK based (one other name on log book is the chap who did refurb and paperwork for me)
Very good Alpine MRP-F450 amplifier. iPod dock in modified dash ashtray (have original somewhere but not as shiny!).
Alpine SPX-177R 2-way component speaker system.
Beautiful custom interior - corner seat, faux suede cushions, gas hob, drinks rack, good space for storage (I kept all food, cutlery and crockery in plastic boxes under the hob see photos)
Safari Front windows (the expensive, good quality ones) and opening rears too.
Thatcham Category 2 Immobiliser with transponder keyfob (and a spare) so it won't start unless the keyfob is in the vehicle.
Two batteries (godsend if you've left the lights on). One is leisure battery, other is a brand new starter battery. There's a split charger to start putting charge in the Leisure if the starter battery is happily topped up.
Wooden 'headliner' (assured this was the original, but in very good condition - think this is unique to the EZ conversion so it's rare, and really attractive)
The big towel rack bumpers all painted up so they don't rust away.
Old Black and Silver plates
Round 'cal look' mirrors and tiny 'cal' rearview
Propex Compact 1600 gas heater - (This was fitted and piped by the mechanic who did the refurb but was never wired. Bought on Ebay at the time with the promise of being operational but I only use the Van during the summer months, mostly in France so really never had any reason to wire it up. No guaruntee on this, but can't see why it shouldn't work!
Fire extinguisher, Wheel Brace, first aid kit I'll leave on.
The Story:
This incredible Splitty was imported from California in 2006 by Exeter based company 'California Campers' who then completed most of the restoration work, including some minor welding (new footwell), a full re-spray/refurb and the fitting of a custom interior for me.
Though the mechanical work, wiring, paint job, and most of the interior are genuinely first class, the corner seat is a little 'MDF-y' beneath the suede cushions. Not that this has ever been a let down: the bed, cooker and storage space are sturdy, practical and really comfortable, and the van oozes a genuinely inexplicable charm which you don't get from all split screens.
Mechanically it has been amazing for a vehicle of its age, sailing through both MOT's since in the country with only a couple of home tweaks (brakes, washer fluid) before going in for the tests.
The engine is brand new (I managed to destroy the one it arrived with by ignoring a protesting oil pressure light last summer). It's just as well though, as the new one came with a 2 year warranty from the good people at Remtec, and doesn't leak oil all over my dad's drive. (1 year still remains on the warranty).
The van has loads of expensive extras (stainless roof rack, safaris front and back, cal mirrors, alloys, trim, decent amp, beautiful old radio - just look at the list!) as it really has been my pride and joy for the last two years.
I am selling 'Bundy' for genuine reasons: I've had an amazing couple of summers out of her but want to move on and fulfil some other dreams with the money. At 45 years old this vehicle is a piece of history and becoming increasingly desirable among collectors and enthusiasts (as if you don't know), so there's no need to worry about it loosing it's value.
Do please feel free to contact me with any questions at all on my mobile or email below, or the same if you want to arrange to come and have arrange a viewing. And don't be afraid of making me an offer, the worst I can say is no!
note: She's a *little* grubby in the photos (!) but gets a thorough clean next time I'm down there... will probably upload new pics then as well!
Click here for loads more photos at my flickr account - including some during the refurbishment process. She's also advertised onebay where you canmake me an offer I can't refuse.
in the ebay add mot tax v5 infact all details are blank with the text above below if you get me.
it just got me thinking and I found the wording confusing but that could just be me.
Piant is nice and shiny on it, the stance is good ( im more for nose down but its set at a popular stance all the same and i think it can be adjusted to taste)

Ebay ad was an auction and I hit re-list and changed to classified... Can only guess that info was all lost then, because I took pains to complete it all before! I'll update it.
Ok sorry if i came out as a bit anti this van I am keeping an eye on the market as the lady says we may have money for a split later in the year, i wanted a 69bay but hey ho. good luck with the sale it was tough shifting my bay last year in new paint and fully welded but if you wait there are the buyers out there
