This bus has a bit of history; it was originally Brookside school in Liverpools school mini bus (yes the same place as the soap opera and I still have the original dealer service book). I bought it off a guy about a year and a half ago who had owned it for 2 years.
It was a bit of a blank canvas when I bought it with the middle row of seats missing and just the rear seat and a big space full of potential.
Interior
I have since fitted a Bluebird customs full width rock n roll bed (£325 worth and fully MOT compliant), a matching Bluebird customs fold down buddy seat, a Just Kampers removable table with skim board top, re- done all the flooring in non slip tiles and upholstered the seat and bed cushions in high quality denim. In addition to this I built a plinth/storage area over the engine bay to raise it to the right height for the bed and to add some extra storage. Other interior goodies include a Just Kampers dashboard storage tray, a full set of thermo window mats and a fire extinguisher (just in case).
Exterior
The paint work is still mainly the original Cornat blau (Cornate blue) and as such it does have a few battle scars and scratches (think patina rather than mistreated). The only body work required when I got it was to replace the cab steps and a small repair on the rear quarter. There is some rust but nothing serious or structural in keeping with a 27 year old original paint bus. Ill also throw in a breathable van cover to keep the bus in as good condition as possible
Mechanicals
I had the bus fully serviced when I first got it by a local air-cooled specialist. He replaced all the brake lines and fuel lines, a couple of the front suspension bushes and both front wheel bearings. I have since replaced the starter motor and a couple of tyres. The guy who owned it before me had the auto gearbox fully serviced/reconditioned and as such everything runs nice and smooth with the only issue being a small oil leak from a couple of the push rod tubes. (Something Ive been meaning to sort but havent got round to). The engine pulls well being the 2.0l and with the auto box is great for motorway cruising. I have a load of history/receipts to show that this bus has been well looked after and it has sailed through two MOTs whilst Ive owned it no problem.
General Info
Since owning the bus Ive used it to travel to a number of shows inc. Bus Stopover, Stanford Hall, Bug Jam and Deva. Ive also been down to Cornwall for a week last year and have never had any mechanical issues. Current mileage is just under 102000 and the bus has 5 months tax and 11 months MOT.
Only reason for sale is that I quite fancy the idea of owning a trekker and need to sell the bus to fund this.
Im looking for £1800 ono for one of the last air-cooled buses made and a rare twin slider original paint model at that.
