Fire up the rocco!
This is one of the first mk2 1.6 gti Scirocco's.
It comes with the original bill of sale in April 1982 where the lucky first owner paid £7130.
There is also the second bill of sale For £5295 in June 1985.
The mileage is just a staggering 50,100 miles from new. This can be verified with old MOT's
2003 - 47971 miles
2006 - 49431 miles
2007 - 49834 miles
2008 - 49956 miles
2010 - 49965 miles
The car was serviced at the same time as it was mot in 2006 when the mileage was 49431.
It was then serviced again at the next mot in 2008 when the mileage was 49956.
Thats just 525 miles in 2 years!!!
The body work is in very good condition considering it's age, the worst bit would be a small amount of rust at the bottom of the drivers door and the bottom corner of the passengers side wing.It also looks as though it's may of had a light respray at some point.
The interior is a bit tatty. The dash board is cracked from the sun shining through the huge windscreen, but everything is there and works. The manly two tone horn has been replaced by a feeble single horn. This shows up at being an mot failure in 2007 so i guess this was a cheap and quick fix.
When i brought the car it had been stood since 2008. The reason for this was the owner fell over and broke her hip the day after the mot and never drove it again.
Once i got it home i put a new battery on it and it fired up lovely. It flew through the mot so i taxed it and insured it,£104 classic car insurance,it has been my daily drive ever since, with the only problem been the rubber bush on the throttle pedal failing. This was replaced with a genuine vw item.
It's currently taxed until August 2010, and MOT'ed until March 2011.
So there you have it, a nice modern classic that can be used every day as it is, or bring it back to it's original condition with just a light restoration.
