Bay or T25 camper van?

Hi all

just looking at getting a camper van but which one?

I would like a 4 berth camper so have ruled out a splity.

Circumstances: Wife, 2yr old daughter, can garage, would like to go the beach but live in the Midlands so needs to be good on motorways / long journeys. Will use for shows (over night stay) and weekends away.

My sensible head says T25....but would prefer a bay parked on the drive!

Experiences please......non sexual just on camper vans

Hello mate - I'm in very similar position myself - a wife and kid, and looking for a camper to get me to the coast and beyond! Not buying for at least a year though, until I have finished my studies.

For what its worth - I'm going for a pop top bay - I just can't get on with the look of the T25s (no offence!) If I was going more modern than a bay I would look at a T4. I'm estimating £12k + for a bay with decent mechanics and bodywork, not too worried about the interior as am thinking I will replace this

True. I wouldn't bother with a T25, my experience of them has been shit.
Having said that, they handle much better than bays!
But, they rot like buggery along the panel seams.
But, they run much faster and more economically than bays,
But, they'll never be as cool, and if you get a diesel, the engine just won't last!

I think your choice would need to be between a bay or a T4.

Don't rule out a T25 - just don't get one with seam rust. Bays can (and do!) rust an awful lot too

I was thinking about changing the T25 for a T4 for a while, but having heard a few horror stories about the cost repairing engine faults I've decided to stick with the T25. Also I don;t want to drive a builders van

I am angling towards a bay - a Westie I think. I did have a look at Dormobiles but a two year old kid and a hammock might but mix!

Looking to get one soon...hopefully before the end of this wonderful summer we're having
In fact its so sunny I driving my Karmann Beetle nearly every day........well nearly.

i've got both and it totally depends what you want

as a camper...the T25 wins hands down i'm afraid...especially a westy.
Mine has never once let me down, but i did look at loads before buying it.
However i've always preferred bays, my tintop westy would be a bit of a squash for a family though!!

Just done the 24hr lemans ,2200 kms there and back and it didnt fart once, and i did it in comfort, have a look at my van in members rides and tell me its not cool paul justwestys
