1968 bay panel van - Australian Import
Offered for sale is this fantastic Volkswagen Type II Bay Window Panel Van.
This van has just been imported by me personally from Australia. It is therefore Right Hand Drive and same spec as the British models were in the late 1960's. The big difference between this one and most of the vans in the UK is that this one isn't anything like as rusty as a UK bus!
It really is in very good condition for a vehicle which is 39 years old. It has an interesting history - this van used to belog to the Australian Postal Service and really doesn't look like it has had a hard life.
This is a really good example of one of these classic Volkswagens.
Decent early bay panel vans are very hard to find in the UK, especially RHD ones. The bodywork is very straight and without the underside coated in fresh underseal you can see what you are getting - an honest, geniuine, classic VW which hasn't been bodged and isn't like a patchwork quilt of welded panels, drive it and enjoy it.
All the import duties and VAT have been paid. The kombi is ready to be UK registered (I can help and advise on this, it really is very easy and cheap) once it has an MOT. I have obtained proof of the manufacture date from VW so the DVLA will allocate it a registration number appropriate to a 1968 vehicle (it will be tax exempt).
It has the original 1600cc engine and a manual gearbox.
This van is really versatile - it has 3 seats (with seat belts) as well as a huge storage area. It's ready for you to do your own thing with.
This really is a very nice, original and un-messed about with Type 2. Anyone into VW's will know good ones are hard to find, unwelded and straight examples like this one are rarer still.
The van can be viewed in Woking, Surrey.
No dreamers or scammers please - this really is a nice van that could be a rare show winner with a little work.
More pictures and details of this type 2 are available here.....
