day mouldings just do wings, but they are good quality panels that fit well.

The best for you bug? Good all metal repairs where needed and protected by paint on the top and waxoil type stuff underneath.

I did consider just sticking with genuine metal wings, but I want to make it look like a pre-67 so I thought for the £150 that day moulding wings cost it would be more cost effective,

is there a site for day mouldings like there is for Hookys Panel Shop, or is it a case of ringing the guy to get on the list of orders?

For Day mouldings just ring him (01205 460584), Hes a nice bloke but expect to wait around 2-3 months he makes 2 wings a day and they are worth evey penny fit first time. I have a set in the shed for mine when i get round to restoreing it.

With the Day Mouldings, do I ring him and order them, then pay and collect when they are ready or do i have to make two journeys to pay then collect, if that makes sense?

Just ring Keith who runs Day Mouldings to place your order first. He will ask you what type of wings you want (ie pre-67) and what cut-out you require (ie bumper slots, wing-top indicators, 1200 or tombstone light fittings etc). He will give you a date when they will be ready, then you take a trip down to his workshop in Boston (Lincolnshire) and you pay him when you collect them.

I have had a set of his wings on my Bug now for about 6 years and they fit perfectly.... Better than pattern steel wings in fact, as he used original VW Beetle wings when he made the moulds about 30 years ago!! He no longer makes them in the colour of your choice though. He now only makes them in a neutral cream gelcoat.

Keith is a really nice guy, so give him a ring.

Good luck with ya Bug.
