Re: has the world gone mad

only on new cars but will affect 2nd hand value I suppose, pisses me off all this green stuff from the government - use public transport and all that - I wanted to go to London by train last friday - £ 150 notes for a return ticket - how is that an incentive to go green! cheaper to take the car.... off on a tangent a bit but sort of same subject!

Re: has the world gone mad

Whilst we talk about "Showroom Tax" on high polluting vehicles and less tax on "greener cars", we seem to forget that when we look at birth to grave aspect of a vehicle our Bays, Beetles, and Splits despite being produced in some 30 plus years ago are still cleaner than alot of modern hybrid vehicles. To manufacture and dispose of modern materials including banks of rechargable batteries make modern vehicles really dirty . Despite the price of fuel going up because of carbon emissions until other industrial powers China, USA, India etc get a grip of their emissions we aint going to make a difference to going green...... Should this have been a rant, Sorry

Re: has the world gone mad

This is just an excuse to get sum revinue back for the economic tits up as they couldn't possibly let all the scrounging and illegals down with their free cash...lets take it off the graffters

Good point Storm10

All this hybrid cars are shit because the carbon cost of battery production and disposal is more than the carbon cost of a fossil fuel burner over the average life of a car...thus hybrid are technically worse and they have more fuel consumption due to having a 1.3 haul its lard battery weighed down arse about.

Hopefully more people will save more old cars and the roads will look like a scene from the sweeny again...

Re: has the world gone mad

could do with reading similar studies along the lines of

Prius Versus HUMMER: Exploding the Myth - The Car Connection

currently dodge viper cheaper over its lifetime than a prius, until the new technologies improve

the trouble is, people only seem to factor mpg as being the 'green' element, not the investment, development, production, running and recycling/ scrapping of a car, the whole lifecycle cost should be the important thing
