gear shift problems type 2 bay

seems like I'm stirring porridge evertime I change gear. I can literally spin the gear lever when in gear. Getting into reverse is a lottery and getting out again is best achieved by turning the engine off. Have fitted a new selector plate, the linkage is new but the problem is still there.

u no when u did the linkage did u replace this the shiftrod bush

have u changed that bit on the back of the linkage just in front of the gearbox too? that wears away and causes sloppy changes?
