MK1 golf running problems?

Hey all,

I have managed to get my ratty golf back on the road, all MOT'd and low etc but just one major problem.

It starts fine, runs fine warms up fine and cools down fine THEN as Im tootling around it just completely dies, loses all power almost like someone has turned the switch off?! I pull over and leave it 10 seconds and it starts up and is fine, but then occasionally does it again.

Ive changed the dizzy and rotor, changed the carb last night as the old one was pants and this seemed to do the trick.............then it cut out again. Its abit like Russian Roulette as to how far I can go before it does it again.

Any help on this would be awesome, could it be the fuel pump? Could it be points? Could it be its too low

Cheers for now folks.
