i know what you ant the other guy are saying and i agree its a low offer, but to be fair to the insurance companys they do have a facility for agreeing the value of the vehicle beforehand,
if nothing else, let this be a warning to anyone else - get an agreed value for your vehicle!
again
sorry to hear of the accident ant all your troubles chap

it comes to something though if you have to think about an agreed value just so you dont get ripped off. Even a low market value payout should be at least twice that offer.

that's what I mean !
I know we have to play by the 'agreed value' rules - but that is because the are ripping us off !

it shouldn't matter whether its a 40 year old van or a pound of bacon .. it has a market value - that is what the current market would pay for that item ! or - more importantly, what you would have to pay to replace that item of similar spec
they really piss me off !
Spot on. Try to find a splitty for sale for less than double that valuation!
If they still don't play ball ask for the name and address of the ombudsman.
Worst case scenario: There's always small claims court. There won't be any problem finding any evidence to support the policyholders claim of what constitutes market value.

dude i am so sorry to hear this ! thyre f'n wankers i am sory to hear this i no how much this van means to you ! if thyre is anything i can do let me no
I have to agree with Jinx on this.. Agreed value classic insurance policies are there for exactly this reason. A 40-50 year old van is worth nothing to anyone other than people in particular 'scene' or to collectors and therefore are valued very low to insurance companies.
Also they'd be taking into account the availability of parts (usually from a main dealer) when assessing which obviously makes it difficult to repair from their point of view.
You'll be lucky to get them to pay out the £8k - 9k that's you probably think it's worth.
Hope you get it sorted though.
