Unhappyhorrible scraping noise

having spent the last few hours replacing the rear brake cylinders on the bay (75) we still have spongy brakes. done the bleeding but wondering if the brake shoes on the nearside (handbrake wheel) need to be locked in place as they currently spring forward a bit.

Also, we had a scraping noise going round right hand turns which we cured last time by tapping the backplate out the way. Just test drove the van and the noise is now awful most of the time.
It is a loud scraping noise which is definitely coming from the brake area or could it be the CV joint?

off to have another look but would appreciate some thoughts- other than get it to a garage you silly woman!

Was hoping to do stanford from tomorrow but with the weather forecast and continual niggling issues with the van not looking forward to it now

firstly handbrake operates both back brakes so if its only on one side its a problem that needs fixing asap.

scraping noise is either something loose inside the drum (broken spring / grit rust etc) in which case open up and have a look, or its the rear wheel bearing thats collapsed in which case take it to a garage cos its a pretty big job involving big tools.

as far as the shoes are concerned they should sit fairly evenly and be centred. Make sure both top and bottom springs are in place, the retaining springs and pins in the centre of both shoes are in place and the shoes are adjusted properly (using the star nuts at the bottom of the shoes).
