Idle Adjustment

On a '71 Beetle 1300 standard carb is it true it is Auto-choke? Also where is the idle screw?

My girlfriend has just bought one and haven't got a copy of the Haynes book yet, but it seems to keep cutting out when you get to a juntion and put clutch in, just thinking about upping idle slightly to drive it home!

You sure its not the timing? Might just need advancing a little.

I'm not too up on adjusting the stock carbs, I've only played with my weber prog carb.

Yeah the choke is electric .
