Bug engine wont idle

Hey folks, hope you can help with this. I cant get my 1300TP to idle at all and when i try to drive it just missfires all over the place. Im sure the fuel mixture is buggered but dont think its solely that. Ive set the timing, rocker clearances, and plug gaps. From what I've gathered from other peoples problem, do you thing the carbs blocked? Or maybe i should check something else...maybe a plug or 2 are faulty?

thanks loads!!

if its mis-firing and you have set your timing, have you checked the piont clearance in the dizzy?
check leads and spark plugs too!
i doubt the mixture will effect it that much??
hope that helps!

Back to basics, are you getting a spark at all the plugs? if not are the leads ok? is the dizzy cap ok? are the points set correctly.

if you are getting a spark is the timing definately set right for your dizzy? stock and 009's are set differently.

if all of the above is ok have you checked for air leaks? are the valve gaps set correctly?

then its time to reset the carb, assuming its a stock solex, go through the basic set up procedures ala haynes manual.

if the above doesn't cure things then it may be worth stripping the carb to check for blocked jets / general crap. but you'll need a carb rebuild kit to do this.

Thanks for the advice.

Got a Pertronix in there so no points.
Sparks at all the plugs but not sure if its good enough
Dont know how you can see if dizzy is gone without replacing it. There are the typical black marks where the rotors been rotating past but nothing bad.
I use stock leads, not sure how old but is a possibility its them
I'll make sure the sparks and leads are ok though....

Tried leads 1 & 2, and there is no spark at the 3 spare plugs that i tried! Tried a spared lead and it does the same. Going to install points to see if its the electronic ignition unless anyone knows better?

If its not the ignition i guess it leave the rotor arm, and coil.
