Type four clutch problems. We continue.............

Thought that the clutch had gone on the Camper, checked the cable and the nut was wound to the end of the adjuster and some one had put in a spacer aswell!

Fitted a new clutch and cable.

The cable however, when fitted to the arm on the bellhousing is a clear 3.5/4cm to long and when you put the nut on to adjust it up you are nearly at the end of the thread.

I have taken the cable off and measured it and it is 3215mm long, just as it should be according to the company i got it off.

The spring is ok on the arm and you can feel resistance when trying to move it by hand so i guess that all is ok in the bellhousing.

Any ideas?

The vehicle is a 1979 Bay with a 2000cc twin carb engine.

what is the state of the outer conduit thing? short run or rubber casing stuff of the gearbox before the operating arm.?
also have you checked the entire cable run? often you might find that a weld holding the tube that the cable runs down has failed thus providing a short cut for the cable.

finally check the arms / connections at the pedal end to see if anything is bent / broken there.

The rubber conduit thingy was new with everything else and fits fine. I have even taken it off and measured it to make sure that it's the right length.

I have checked all the pedals, where the cable clips on to the bottom of the cluth pedal, nothing looks like it has moved and everything is tight as a tiger.

I have however not taken the belly pan off and looked at the tubes under there.

I will do as soon as we get back from our day trip to Aberdovey, not quite Devon but you can see the sea and they have sand.

I'll be in touch.
