horrible grinding noise clutch/box! Help pls

hi all
coming back from Vanfest van ran great but when got off the M54 whenever i changed gear i got a horrible grinding/ growling noise!
now when i start her up and put my foot on the clutch it makes the noise again the noise also remains for a short while when in gear and clutch depresed tho?
does this sound like the clutch or gearbox or something else
any ideas or suggestions on what i should check greatly appreciated

clutch release bearing maybe or brokem fingers on the clutch pressure plate ?

as above, release bearing most likely.

Pull the engine and survey the damage. If your lucky, i'll be the bearing, worst case is a new clutch,pressure plate, bearing and release arm.

Try not to use it as the more you do the more damage will be done.

Thrust bearing all day long. Start it up, should sound ok with clutch pedal up, gring like a b*stard every time u put pressure on the pedal.
Was probably because too much heat built on the motorway.
Quick cheap and easy repair, though personally i would recommend the uprated retaining clips aswell. adds a couple of quid, but well woth it in my book.

fingers crossed it will be just the bearing but we will see
